Commis Chefs

TEENAGER foodies are being offered the opportunity to develop their culinary skills on the first step to becoming master chefs.
Dearne Valley College's catering and hospitality division has extended an invitation to year ten and 11 pupils in the local area to take part in an eight week course to learn how to cook a range of dishes from around the world.

The budding chefs will be able to take their creations away with them each week to ease the cooking burden at home.

Comprehensive schools at Wath, Swinton, Mexborough and Rawmarsh have already been invited but the course is available to anyone in the surrounding area.

The sessions take place between 3.45pm and 6.14pm beginning the week commencing January 21 with 12 places available on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Those taking part will be provided with the necessary equipment and clothing plus a snack and drink on arrival while the course is priced at £40 to cover the cost of the produce used.

Catering Tutor Bob Cusack said: "The Catering and Hospitality team are delighted to offer this cookery course to youngsters from the local community. It's an exciting opportunity for any young person to develop their cookery skills or for those interested in a catering career."
