Whats Hot - 2008 Chefs

Gordon Ramsays Plane Food

March 2008 will see the launch of Gordon Ramsays Plane Food at the newly built Terminal 5 of Heathrow Airport. Plane Food will be a 180-cover fine dining restaurant housed in the Richard Rogers designed building of the worlds busiest international airport. Stuart Gillies (Boxwood Cafe) will oversee the menu together with Nathan Johnson.

ABode Manchester

ABode Manchester (formerly The Rossetti Hotel) will launch in April 2008. A stunning Grade II listed building, it is the fourth ABode to launch following the success of Exeter, Canterbury and Glasgow. ABode is a growing collection of boutique lifestyle hotels and is the concept of the Andrew Brownsword (owner of Gidleigh Park, The Bath Priory and Sydney House in Chelsea) in partnership with the two Michelin starred chef Michael Caines (Gidleigh Park and MC at ABode). Each ABode combines the best British values of tradition and quality with a contemporary design unique to each hotel.

ABode Chester is now set to launch in Summer 2009.

Gordon Ramsay at The Trianon Palace & Spa

Gordon Ramsay will be introducing his first restaurant in France at the legendary Trianon Palace & Spa, a 199-room hotel, located just steps away from the famed Chateau de Versailles, in early Spring 2008.

Atul Kochhar, the Michelin starred chef patron of the renowned Benares restaurant in London has announced the opening of his first restaurant in Dublin. Aanandaa - meaning Eternal Joy - will open in early February 2008 with one of Atul's protoges, Sunil Ghai, at the helm of the kitchen. The menu will focus on locally sourced produce wherever possible.

New Leon openings

2008 will see the launch of up to ten new LEON restaurants. Locations include New Street Square (Spring '08), Cabot Circus in Bristol (Autumn '08) and Westfield White City in London (Autumn '08). There are currently 9 branches of the exciting group of naturally fast food restaurants across London.

Quo Vadis

Sam and Eddie Hart are delighted to have purchased Quo Vadis restaurant in Soho. They will restore it to the 'most beautiful restaurant in Soho' with an 85 seater restaurant on the ground floor and a members club on the 1st and 2nd floor - due to re-open May 2008.

The Cut

Spanning over 8,500 square feet (4,500 inside and 4,000 outside), Langy and Simon Prideaux (The Admiral Codrington/Vingt Quatre) are launching The Cut in June 2008 in the pretty and popular Devonshire Square development, close to Liverpool Street Station. Inspired by the New York Scene, The Cut will offer a number of different areas to relax, eat and drink and promises to be an exciting addition to the City.

Maze, The Cookbook

Maze, The Cookbook will be published by Quadrille on 7 March 2008, priced �20.00. It is the first cookbook by Jason Atherton, award-winning head chef of Maze one of the most exciting and original restaurants in London to open in recent years. March is also the month Jason will launch Maze Grill in the adjoining Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square.

The Kings Club

Owners of The Kings Club, Miles Johnson and Ian Rayner ( are launching three new properties in the early part of 2008. The Kings Arms in Litton (February) The Ragged Cot in Hyde (March) and The Kings Arms in Montacute (April). All set in picturesque villages in the South West of England, each pub will undergo a substantial refurbishment and be transformed into traditional pubs - The Ragged Cot and The Kings Arms in Montacute will have bedrooms. With features such as comfortable and stylish furnishings and attractive fireplaces, each property will boast a quintessential English style. Using local suppliers as well as ingredients grown on site at each location, the menus will be made up of Modern British dishes such as Home made terrines, West Country Mussels with crusty bread and Shitake, girolle and parsley risotto.

The Warrington

In January 2008 Gordon Ramsay Holdings will launch their third pub, The Warrington, in Maida Vale. Dating back to 1857, this landmark building has been sympathetically returned to its former glory following an extensive restoration designed to retain and enhance this historical building's best features. The ground floor will operate as a traditional pub whereas the first-floor will house a 90-cover restaurant and dedicated bar. Reservations are not currently open however more details will be published later this year once the launch date is confirmed.

Foxtrot Oscar

January will see the re-opening of Chelseas classic neighbourhood bistro, Foxtrot Oscar, by Gordon Ramsay. The refurbishment will build on the cosy and simple nature of the famed neighbourhood bistro. The menu will be in keeping with the original but updated for todays diners; simple, classic dishes based around fresh produce and seasonal ingredients. Starters will include; Chicken liver parfait with toasted brioche and Steak tartare, properly garnished. Main dishes will include Foxtrot fishcakes and Homemade pie of the day. Foxtrot Oscar will be open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

Brasserie Blanc, Winchester

Raymond Blancs eighth Brasserie Blanc is celebrating its Winchester opening in a stunning city-centre listed building in February. The Brasserie is renowned for its classic French dishes and welcoming, lively ambiance and is due to open in Bristol in September 2008.
