Bootle's Hugh Baird College

TOP chefs were among the VIP guests at the re-opening of Hugh Baird Colleges Richlance Restaurant.

The licensed restaurant has been completely revamped and given a sleek, modern look.

Among those invited to the launch evening were former catering students, now head chefs at some of Merseysides best-known eating establishments.

James Hughes, head chef at Blue Bar and Grill, said: The new Richlance looks great. When I studied at Hugh Baird I gained valuable experience in the Richlance kitchens and the standard remains just as high.

As well as room for 60 diners, there is a comfortable seating area for those wanting to relax with morning coffee. A bar has been added where tapas will also be served.

The food and drink menu is created and served by Hugh Bairds hospitality and catering students, under the professional eye of staff.

Hugh Baird College director of estates and resources, Pat Farrell, said: We are really pleased with the results of the refurbishment and with the tremendous team effort in bringing it together in a very short timescale.

I know the students are excited about working in the new surroundings which will further enhance their learning experience.
