Awards For Aubrey Allen

message posted 17-Oct-06 11:16:47

WARWICKSHIRE butcher and delicatessen Aubrey Allen has again been recognised for its dishes.

Organised by The Guild of Fine Food Retailers, fine food awards seek to reward the best foods from across the nation.

The Leamington and Warwick butchers, who supply Michelin star restaurants and celebrity chefs such as Rick Stein, Raymond Blanc and the Roux brothers, picked up three awards, including a gold award for its roasted tomato and sweet pepper soup.

Rob Bean was a head chef and a customer of Aubrey Allen for over 12 years before finally working for them.

He said: "We make all our food without any preservatives or stabilisers and use only natural ingredients.

Foods that carry the great taste awards logo are a class apart. Achieving a gold is really as good as it gets in speciality food and drinks."

More than 4,500 entries were judged at centres in England, Scotland and Ireland and Aubrey Allen's other winning dishes included a silver award for its smoked mackerel lemon and caper paté, and a bronze for its home-made gravy, an all-purpose gravy for beef, pork, and chicken.

The family-run firm, which is directed by Russell Allen, was started in Coventry 70 years ago and has a multi-million pound turnover.
