What to do where to go?

Hi I want to get into a career in catering. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do? Catering schools, work experience, Jobs etc. I am currently living in wiltshire but am thinking of moving to london to pursue my career.

Hi Tommy

Before you move to london, I would send letters out to all the top hotels and restaurants. Most hotels will also put you through nvq so you kill two birds with one stone.

Hi, I'm in a similar situation to Tommy but was thinking of maybe doing a full-time cookery course at a college. What's the best thing to do? Would it be better to find a job and do a part-time course at the same time? How/where can I find what courses are on offer in my area (Cornwall)?

:'( nobody replied! Think I might have answered my own question though - http://careersadvice.direct.gov.uk/ has loads of info on vocational courses and I found a pretty good list of colleges offering catering courses at http://www.chef-jobs.co.uk so I'm getting an idea of what I can do :)
